We've all hear the statement "don't sweat the small stuff", but it's the small stuff that really matters.
I'm not talking about the wrinkles on your shirt, or the fly in your soup or the the little things that drive you bat-shit-crazy! I'm talking about the really important things that often get over looked or dismissed as meaningless actions. My prospective has recently changed after reading a very interesting book, The Slight Edge. Little things to matter and they matter a great deal! By doing little seemingly meaningless things everyday, you compound the little things into bigger things.
For example:
Holding the door open for someone that has their hands full.
Greeting your partner with a warm 'Hello' and a soft kiss.
Holding hands wile sitting on the couch.
Snuggling a few extra minutes with your child in the morning.
Noticing when your partner reaches over to put his hand on your lap while he is driving.
Letting your child stay up 5 more minutes at night (what's 5 minutes anyway)
When walking by your partner, reach out and touch him.
Steal as many kisses as possible.
Hug your partner and your children everyday.
Say something sweet even if you are angry.
Show up with a smile and a great attitude.
Compliment someone today.
Call an old friend you haven't talked to in a while.
Send a hand written Thank you note.
Tell someone I'm sorry.
The list goes on and on.. It's the little things in life that really matter.
